How Much Will It Cost?
I can't tell you how often I'm asked this not-so-simple question. What makes it worse is that there's no simple answer.
Every project has different requirements, each requiring unique expertise and resources. In the interest of openness and transparency we want to give you a general idea of the specific costs.
Let it be known, prior to talking numbers, that we're not the lowest bidder for your project. If you're looking to get your product out the door at the lowest cost without regard for quality, you should look elsewhere. We take great pride in creating efficient and effective websites and take time to do things the right way. If you can appreciate the value of custom website design and development then we'd be glad to work with you.
So how much will it cost to get your project underway? Here are some ballpark price ranges.
A Typical Project
In the case of a simple redesign, a client comes to us with an existing site that needs a fresh new look. The content will stay the same but likely be reorganized and placed into a content management system so that the client can update own their own in the future. What will this cost?
- Research and Planning (site structure, wireframing): 25 hours
- Visual Design (creating a design in Photoshop): 30 hours
- Page Coding (turning designs into XHTML and CSS): 25 hours
- Simple CMS Integration (such as Wordpress or Movable Type): 30 hours
- Content Migration and CMS Training: 10 hours
- Testing and Final Touches: 5 hours
That's a total of 125 hours spread over a two month period. Our standard rate is $45/hour so you're looking at about $5,625 for a simple redesign and content management. A site with a simple e-commerce system is probably in the same ballpark. If you leave out the CMS and e-commerce and have those outsourced you're looking at around half that price.
Obviously we can't account for every possible scenario here so project costs can greatly vary based on your specific needs, but if you ever have a question, just ask us!
